QUT is committed to the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of teaching and learning and in giving service to its students. The Student Charter (in Section E/2.2 of the MOPP) outlines what you may expect from QUT and what QUT expects from you.
You may have a grievance if something has occurred at QUT that has caused you distress or hardship in some way. If you are an undergraduate or coursework postgraduate student, Student Ombudsman may be able to assist in resolving problems related to academic or administrative decisions that you feel are inappropriate or unfair.
If you are a research higher degree student you should contact the office of the Dean of Graduate Studies.
If the problem is related to a disability, or considerations related to race, ethnic background or gender, you should discuss your grievance with the Equity Section.
If you feel that you have a valid grievance, and that you have tried to resolve it but have been unsuccessful, the Student Ombudsman may be able to assist. The best thing to do, if you can, is to write a detailed email to him at ombudsman@qut.edu.au outlining the details of your problem. It is preferred that you use your QUT email address.
If you would like to talk this over with the Student Ombudsman, or just to get some advice, get in touch or make an appointment.
