Welcome to the Division of Administrative Services
The Division plays an integral role in assisting the University to achieve its teaching, research and service goals in two important ways: firstly by providing management and support services in relation to students, staff and facilities through a range of operations; and secondly through its role as the custodian of the University's legislative obligations and standards, governance and policy.
The Division's custodial role impacts on almost every part of the University's operations, and also involves coordinating the provision of legal advice to the University; establishment and maintenance of design guidelines including architectural, services and site works guidelines and overseeing the University's compliance with the standards relating to workplace health and safety.
The Division makes a major contribution to supporting the University's academic objectives through a variety of activities involving support for teaching, student support, human resources strategy, equity initiatives, development and maintenance of the physical infrastructure and marketing and communication.
The role of the Student Ombudsman is important in facilitating improvements in the quality of the University’s administrative, teaching, learning and student service processes and acting as a catalyst for innovation and improvement in standards, practices and procedures relating to undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students.
A particularly important service for students is support for their academic, emotional, social and career development provided by Counselling Services, Health Services, Careers and Employment Services and the International Student Service.
Finally the Division plays a significant role in supporting research through a range of initiatives relating to student support, human resources, development and maintenance of research space, committee servicing, grievance handling and career development training as well as collaborative initiatives within the Division of Research and Commercialisation.
